Wanda Lee Deer 1921 - 2015

FREDONIA — Wanda Lee Deer, 93, passed away Sept. 23, 2014 in Wichita. Born on Feb. 28, 1921, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Frank Edward and Nellie (Coats) Sypolt. On May 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kelso Deer. He preceded her in death. She worked as an executive secretary for Phillips Petroleum for many years.
Survivors include her twin sister, Wilma Wagner of Hoisington; four nieces Wanda Jo Madden (Michael) of Hoisington, Nora Kirkpatrick of Roanoke, Va., Karen Kirkpatrick (Bill) of Beatrice, Neb., Janet Murphy (Jim) of Mesa, Ariz.; two nephews, Keith Wagner of Canton, Mich.,and Tom VanBrimmer (Karen) of Hoisington; and two stepsons, Montie Deer (Jan) of Topeka, and David Deer (Camille) of Loch Lloyd, Mo. She was preceded in death by, her parents, Frank and Nellie Sypolt; four brothers, Elmer Sypolt, Mervin Sypolt, Melvin Sypolt and E.B. Gilbert Sypolt; three sisters, Lola Moorhead, Opal VanBrimmer and Reita Rice; a niece, Nell Marie Wagner; and two nephews, Willis VanBrimmer and Jimmie Adkins.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sedgwick United Methodist Church in Sedgwick. Memorials are suggested to Kans for Kids and may be left with the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countysidefh.com.
