LORRAINE — Wayne D. Mehl, 79, passed away Oct. 21 at his home in rural Lorraine. Born Sept. 25, 1933 in Ellsworth County, he was the son of Ethel (Splitter) and Delmar Mehl. A lifetime resident of the Lorraine area, he was a farmer and stockman. On Feb. 6, 1952, he married Donna Kempke in Junction City. She survives.  
Mr. Mehl was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lorraine, a board member of Lorraine Grain, Green Garden Township and the Lorraine Bank and a Lorraine Hour Technician.
Other survivors include daughter Denise Brock and husband Richard of Carlton; daughter-in-law JoAnn Mehl of Norman, Okla.; grandchildren Ross Mehl, Derek Mehl, Jeremiah Wells, Amanda Samland and Melissa Williams; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Daryl and sister Ann Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Lorraine, with burial following in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lorraine Baptist Cemetery or the Alzheimers Association, in c/o the funeral home.
