William Bill Kirkpatrick 1926-2016

LINCOLN, Neb. — William L. “Bill” Kirkpatrick, 90, of Lincoln, formerly of Beatrice, passed away at the Waterford at Wilderness Hills Memory Care in Lincoln Monday Oct. 17, 2016.
He was born June 29, 1926 in Marion, Ill. to Ozzie “Jack” and Beulah (Browning) Kirkpatrick. He was a 1944 graduate of Hoisington High School. Bill served his country in the United States Naval Reserves, in active duty from May 1944 until May, 1946.
Bill and Karen Van Brimmer were married on May 7, 1948 in Hoisington. They moved to Beatrice from Stinett, Texas in 1954; lived in Oklahoma and then back to Beatrice in 1957. They lived in Naperville, Ill. from 1969 until moving back to Beatrice in 1981. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice; member of the American Legion and VFW Clubs in Beatrice; and volunteered as a van driver to the Veterans Hospital. Bill enjoyed golf, gardening, using the computer, and supporting his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Janelle Molsen and her husband Peter, Lincoln; four grandchildren, Matthew Molsen, Sarah Molsen, Molly Jacobitz and husband Adam, and Michael Molsen and wife Krysta; and three great-grandchildren Creighton, Berkley, and Emmery Jacobitz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years Karen (2014); a sister, Corrine VanHoorebeck; and a brother, Jack Kirkpatrick.
Memorial services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Rusty Miller officiating. Inurnment of his ashes will be held at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice with military graveside services provided by Bitting-Norman Post No. 27, American Legion and the United States Navy.
There will be no viewing or visitation, but the family will greet friends prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Wilderness Hills Memory Care and the family’s choice with the funeral home in charge. Sign Bill’s online guest book at www.ghchapel.com.
