Friends of the Library sale was one for the books

To the editor:

The 2021 Friends of the Library book sale was a success! In our last minute dilemma to move the mountain of books to the meeting room, staff from the Great Bend Recreation Department came to our rescue! Thank you Chris Umphres, Diann Henderson, Garet Fitzpatrick, Megan Hammeke, Paul Zamarripa and Aaron Fuller! A special thanks goes to Friends member Scott Morrow, who moved and sorted books. They worked every day during the sale. Thank you to all our members that came before the sale day to sort the books!

The Friends’ sale could only happen with the help of our Friends liaison, Erin Ferguson, and GBPL staff, Fred Hernandez and Russell Hunter!

The attendees made this sale a success! With COVID, we were not sure how many people would be there. Those who came practiced safety distance while finding treasures. People may ask if books and libraries are relevant. We say YES!

The purpose of Friends is to help fund GBPL with extra programs and prizes as needed. All year the Friends maintain the Book Store located in the magazine area. Proceeds from these gently used books goes to the library too!

Inquire at the Welcome Desk for information about joining the Friends.
