The City of Hoisington has gone to great lengths over the past year to recruit and support a fine group of Emergency Medical Technicians. Several members of that community have made the commitment to go through extensive training, and to be on call for several hours a month in order to safeguard the community and those that pass through it. As their numbers increase, so does the reliability of the service, and that is to be congratulated.
Hoisington Mayor Clayton Williamson has proclaimed May 17-23 as EMS week in Hoisington, in observance of the national week that honors those who serve us all.
And as if they don’t give enough already, plans are underway to give back a little more. On Wednesday, the volunteer fire department will host an open house, and local businesses including Rotomix and Haunted Heights are chipping in to provide a grill and hot dogs. This will be a great chance for the community to get to know those generous folks who are willing to give of themselves, and to celebrate a wonderful community service and asset.
Volunteers are so vital to small towns. The Great Bend Tribune thanks those in Hoisington and in every other community in our market area for helping to keep the quality of life in our small towns something to envy.
