Barton avoids sweep at Butler

EL DORADO — After winning Game 1 of Saturday’s Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division baseball doubleheader over Butler 13-9, the Barton Community College Cougars had their ninth-inning rally cut short in Game 2, falling 3-2.
The Grizzlies won 4-0 and 7-1 on Friday.
Barton drops to 12-20 overall, 7-13 in conference play, while Butler improves to 13-11, 9-7.
In Saturday’s victory, the Cougars unleashed seven first-inning runs.
They finished with 16 hits, including a pair of home runs from Scott Tyler. He finished with three RBIs.
Aaron Gile had four hits over the four games, including three doubles. He had three RBIs.
Alex King finished with four hits, including a pair of doubles.
Barton will take to the road for doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday, traveling to Lee’s Summit, Mo., to take on Metropolitan Community College-Longview. First pitch on Saturday at the Laker’s field is set for 2 p.m. Sunday’s doubleheader starts at 1 p.m.

Dates change for women’s
conference golf invite
The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference women’s golf invitational that was scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at StoneRidge has been postponed.
The invite will be played on April 11-12.
The first day of competition will start at 1:30 p.m. and will have 18 holes played. The second day will be a nine-hole round, starting at 10 a.m.
