Barton baseball beats Northern Iowa Area

After having its 12-game winning streak snapped in the final game of a 4-game Jayhawk West series last time out, the Barton baseball team is back to its winning ways.
The Cougars deafeted Northern Iowa Area College, 11-7, in a non-conference game Tuesday at Lawson-Biggs.
Barton is now 17-4 on the season and ranked No. 11 in the NJCAA.
The Cougars scored three in fourth and four more in the sixth to open up a lead on the Trojans (6-8).
Jared Maneth provided the big blow in the 4-run sixth, driving in Brett Huelsmann and Paul Claassen on a double to make it an 8-3 game.
Brett Bonar continued to hit the ball well, collecting three hits and driving in three. The sophomore DH had a pair of doubles in the game. Brady Michel and Chandler Kelley also doubled for Barton.
Kelley and Huelsmann both finished with two hits.
Seven different pitcher saw the mound for the Cougars with only starter Tanner Howe getting more than two innings of work.
Howe allowed two unearned runs in his three innings. Austin Taylor threw the fourth inning to pick up the win and improve to 2-0.
The Cougars will head to Garden City Thursday for a pair in West play. Garden will return the trip to Barton Saturday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
