Lucky 13 came in the guise of vintage Barton Community College men’s basketball that the Cougars have become accustomed to this preseason.
Freshman guard Algie Key narrowly missed a double-double with game highs of 22 points and nine assists and sophomore power forward Dwyane Brunson had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, leading Barton to a 71-56 win over Fort Scott Friday night at the Best Western Angus Inn Classic.
The Cougars improved to a perfect 13-0 with the win.
Swingman Carl Wallace added 14 points, hitting 7 of 8 shots, and had seven rebounds. The Cougars had a big edge underneath the backboards, 38-26, and shot 47.5 percent from the floor on the night (28 for 59).
Fort Scott, a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Eastern Division, was led by Julian Mills with 20 points. Tony McGilveary scored 14 for the Greyhounds (1-8).
