PRATT — The No. 19 Barton Community College volleyball team swept Pratt on Tuesday to improve to 11-0 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
The Lady Cougars beat Pratt, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, in spite of missing a pair of starters.
Kamri Nehls, a sophomore right-side hitter, is out for the season with a knee injury.
Setter Juliana de Barros, who has been the NJCAA volleyball player of the week twice this season, will be out for a couple of weeks with an ankle injury.
“We played reasonably well,” said BCC head coach Patrick Hall, who was the head coach at Pratt last year. “We are missing some starters, including our setter. We’ve had to make quite a few adjustments. I am proud of how the team has responded to this adversity.”
Hall said that playing against his own team was emotional, but during the match, he was focused on winning.
“I still stay in contact with a lot of the players and people in the community,” Hall said. “Like any coach, once the game starts, it is all about the game.”
Paula da Silva had 20 kills for the Lady Cougars, and Gabriela Oliveira had a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs.
