Barton women remain 5th in NJCAA Track and Field Top 25

The Barton women stayed steady at fifth in the latest NJCAA Track and Field Top 25 this week.
The Cougars had slipped from third to fifth in the past two weeks, but stayed steady at No. 5 in the latest poll.
The Top 25 poll is based on a point total from actual times and distances and is released by the United States Track and Field Association.
Iowa Central remained No. 1 in the poll this week, giving them the top spot in both the men’s and women’s poll in the most recent rankings. The Triton have a huge lead with 435.54 points, far ahead of Central Arizona at No. 2 with 302.70. New Mexico Junior College is a close third with 298.52.
South Plains (Texas) is fourth at 273.53 with Barton a distance fifth at 188.32. Western Texas moved up two spots to No. 6 with 177.63 points.
A total of three Jayhawk schools are in the Top 10 with Cowley at No 8 and Cloud County at No. 9. Butler and Highland are just outside that parameter at Nos. 11 and 12.
Three more schools from the Jayhawk were ranked. Hutchinson is ranked 15th and Coffeyville 16th while Garden City comes in a No. 19.
The Region VI Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place Sunday in Ahearn Fieldhouse. The NJCAA Championships are set for March 2-3 in Lubbock, Texas.
