BCC women bounce back from OT loss

HESSTON — Bouncing back from a 55-51 overtime loss to Hesston on Friday night during the Hesston Thanksgiving Basketball Classic, Barton Community College defeated Brown Mackie 63-48 on Saturday.
Dionne Harris totaled a game-high 17 points and Erin Copeland scored 11 to lead the Lady Cougars (8-3), who had a six-game winning streak disrupted in Friday’s upset.
Shea Shoemaker had a trio of 3s to finish with nine points for Barton, which built a 33-18 halftime lead against Brown Mackie and coasted in the second half. The Lady Cougars finished 8-for-14 on 3s.
Blair Bloomfield added seven points and a team-high eight rebounds
In Friday’s OT loss, the game was tied at 44 at the end of regulation before Hesston outscored BCC 11-7 in the extra session to pull out the four-point win.
Shoemaker led Barton with 12 points, including 5 for 5 on free throws, and Netanya Jackson had 11 points. Bloomfield scored 10 points.
Barton lost a 28-21 halftime lead as the host team rallied to send the game into OT after outscoring the Lady Cougars 23-16 in the second half.
