The Barton Community College women’s soccer team got ahead early against Independence on Tuesday afternoon and held on for a 2-1 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference victory at Cougars Field.
Molly Hausmann scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the game to put the Lady Cougars on the scoreboard, and Bianca Barron added a goal of her own on a Ronnie Johnson assist six minutes later.
Kirstin Perez scored for Independence in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Barton, which is 9-3 overall and 9-1 in KJCCC action, travels to Johnson County on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. game.

Demetrius Karabinas scored the go-ahead goal in the 95th minute for Barton against Independence on Tuesday afternoon, giving the Cougars a 2-1 win.
Fred Tozi scored first in the Jayhawk Conference matchup with 20 minutes remaining in the game.
Barton’s Hector Mata answered seconds later on an Ebu Camara assist, sending the game into overtime tied at 1-1.
The Cougars, who are 8-3-1 overall, 7-1 in Jayhawk Conference play, are back in action on Saturday on the road against Johnson County at 3:30 p.m.
