Unfortunately for the Barton Community College softball team, NJCAA’s No. 2-ranked Butler was too much for them in capturing a pair of Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division victories on Thursday 14-2 and 11-1.
The sweep increased Barton’s losing streak to nine straight and drops the Lady Cougars to 6-12 on the season, 0-8 in conference play. Butler improves to 29-2, 8-0.
Freshman Ashlyn Osborne led the Lady Cougars from the plate, going 3-for-5 in the doubleheader, including a solo home run in the fifth inning of Game 1.
Butler connected on three home runs and pounded out 27 hits, including eight doubles in the doubleheader. The Lady Grizzlies have scored eight or more runs in 19 of their 29 wins this season.
Barton will travel to Pratt on Monday for a pair of conference games, starting at 3 p.m.
