CENTRAL PLAINS GIRLS 57, OTIS-BISON 28 — Freshman sensation Aevyn Siemsen tied teammate Marilyn Soeken with 19 points to spark No. 4 ranked Central Plains to a 57-28 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Otis-Bison Tuesday. The Oilers (12-2, 4-0 CPL) outscored the Cougars 30-16 after halftime.

Otis-Bison's Briana Croisant scored 12 points and point guard Destiny Mtitchell did a brilliant job directing the offense and added eight points.

CENTRAL PLAINS 49, OTIS-BISON 29 — No. 4 state-ranked Central Plains overcame a poor shooting night with lock-down defense for a 49-29 Central Prairie League basketball victory over Otis-Bison.

The Oilers (12-2, 4-0 CPL) featured a balanced offense with Aiden Hekele (15) and Rylan Siemsen (11) scoring in double figures. Brodie Crites and and Camden Stiles each added nine points. 

The Cougars (5-10, 1-4 CPL) were paced by Kelson Juno with nine points. Point guard Jake Hoopingarner handled and passed the ball superbly.

HOISINGTON 37, SMOKY VALLEY 31 — Red-hot Hoisington used terrific defense keyed to edge Smoky Valley 37-31 in Tuesday's Central Kansas League basketball game.

Super sub Marcus Ingram keyed the late-game rally with 7-of-7 free throws for 11 points. Mason Martin scored 12 points and Rhen Galla added nine points.

Ty Heitschmidt led the Vikings with 18 points. The teams combined for 31 fourth-quarter points after scoring a combined 37 points in three quarters.

SMOKY VALLEY GIRLS 41, HOISINGTON 27 — Hoisington's Ellie Crawford and Kinley Wilkens each scored seven points, but the Cardinals' offense misfired in a 41-27 Central Kansas League basketball loss to Smoky Valley.

Smoky Valley (6-8, 2-0 CKL) was sparked by Katja Blanchat with 13 points and Kenzley Haxton added 11 points.

VICTORIA 42, ELLINWOOD 41 — Ellinwood lost a last-second Central Prairie League 42-41 basketball heartbreaker to Victoria Tuesday. The Eagles missed a chance to tie and two chances to lead in the final minute.

Victoria's Nick Sander converted two free throws for a 42-37 lead. Campbell Coleman's free throw was followed by Landon Simpson's steal and layup for a 42-40 score. Coleman stole the inbounds pass right when Victoria coach Devin Ryan saved the day with a timeout.

After Brody Nowak's missed field goal, Coleman made 1 of 2 free throws for a 42-41 score. Coleman and Simpson's trap created Simpson's steal, but he missed the layup. When Victoria's Wyatt Griffin missed two free throws with 15 seconds left, Simpson's 10-footer in the lane missed with defense provided by Cody Schmidtberger.

Ellinwood featured Simpson (17), Drake Hosman (14) and Coleman (10) in double figures with six Eagle 3-pointers.

Wesley Sander led the Knights with 11 points. Victoria converted five 3-pointers.

"Delp got his first varsity dunk in the books," said St. John coach Danton Hilton. "We played a lot of guys."

Emmett Delp scored 18 points and Jace Reyes added 10 points. Supersub Cody Newdigger and Wyatt Mawhirter each added nine points.

Chase's Malik Carson and Duncan MacLaren each scored 11 points.
