HOISINGTON 61, CIMARRON 31

HOISINGTON — Hoisington's one-two punch was roaring as Drew Nicholson scored 19 points and Mason Haxton added 17 points in a 61-31 rout of Cimarron in Tuesday's 3A Larned basketball substate. The Cardinals play red-hot Hugotoin (19-2) in Friday's semifinals at Larned.

The Cardinals (17-4) outscored the Bluejays 25-7 with stifling defense for a dominating 36-11 halftime lead. The Cardinals eventually pushed the lead to 30 points to trigger a running clock. Cimarron's Andrew Ridenour scored 12 points. Leading scorer Braxton Harrison was shut down to two points.
