HOISINGTON — Hoisington (7-15) scored four first-inning runs and six third-inning runs for a 10-7 victory over Smoky Valley in Thursday's Central Kansas League baseball twin bill. The Vikings won the opener 4-1.

CARDINALS 10, SMOKY VALLEY 7 (G2) — Two big innings enabled the Cardinals to steal the second game. Brodie Crites (3-2, 4.96 ERA) earned the victory.

In a 4-run first, Bentley Corbett's single scored Ryder Stout and Kadin Umphrey. Corbett scored on a Thomas Higgins double. Higgins scored on an error for a 4-0 lead.

In a 6-run third, Umphrey scored on an error and Stout scored on a double steal. Brody Corbett scored on Corbyn Holinde's double. Drake Martin scored on a double steal. Holinde scored on Layton Hoffman's single. Hoffman scored on Marcus Ingram's single for a 10-4 lead.

Viking Ty Heitschmidt drove home two runs.

SMOKY VALLEY 4, CARDINALS 1 (G1) — Smoky Valley pitcher Ty Heitschmidt struck out 11 batters and yielded no unearned runs.

Vikings Kylan Lindquist and Mason Riedel scored on Kaleb Burgardt's fifth-inning double. Hoisington's Brodie Crites scored on a sixth-inning error.

The Vikings made the Cardinals pay for an error on Charles Bowman's RBI single and Burgardt's sacrifice fly. Cardinal starter Kaydin Umphrey (1-3, 4.91 ERA) permitted two earned runs.
