Bat Cats down Derby Twins, 6-4

Great Bend Bat Cats pitcher Matt Nedved won his fourth consecutive game in a 6-4 victory over the Derby Twins Sunday at Al Burns Memorial Field. 

The Bat Cats (16-11) and Derby (10-12) resume their series Monday at Wichita State and Tuesday at Great Bend. The games are available for viewing at the Sunflower Collegiate League's YouTube channel.

Derby's Cade Baker scored a third-inning run on an error. Noah Best singled home Tyler Henry for a 1-1 tie after thee innings.

Micah Grover doubled to ignite a five-run sixth inning against reliever Chase Hanson. Grover scored on a balk. Kyle Gates and Alex Rodgers walked and scored on Best's triple. Best scored on Zane Spinn's single. Spinn scored on a double by J.D. Ortiz for a 6-1 lead. 

Derby's Christian Powell doubled home Kirk Wolf in a three-run eighth inning. Peyton Niemann singled home Powell and Nick Lopez for a 6-4 score. Reliver David Blackburn retired Murphy Bostick to end the inning.
