CHENEY — After two games with scant run support, Bat Cats pitcher Gyeongju Kim celebrated a 11-4 victory over two-time NBC World Series runner-up Cheney Wednesday. Kim dominated with 11 strikeouts and no walks while working seven innings.

Sunflower All-Star Kim pitched brilliantly his past two outings, working nine innings each time. But the Bat Cats scored two runs while losing both games 5-1 and 2-1.

Great Bend drilled six doubles and collected a season high 20 hits against Cheney. Zane Spinn delivered four hits. Spinn and Alex Rodgers each drove home two runs.

The Bat Cats roared to a dominating 9-0 lead over the Diamond Dawgs. Noah Best doubled home Rodgers to ignite a four-run first-inning off starter Trevin Reynolds. Spinn's bunt single scored Best. Nico Baumbach scored on a passed ball. Spinn scored on a Junior Torres single.

Baumbach singled in Rodgers and Best scored on Spinn's second-inning bunt single for a 6-0 lead. Rodgers doubled home Torres and Tyler Henry in a three-run fifth inning. Rodgers scored on a Jett Forrest single for a 9-0 lead.

J.D. Ortiz singled home Rodgers in the seventh inning. Dylan Blomquist singled in Brett Freiberg in the eighth inning.

Kim (2-2) yielded two runs when Trent Mallonee and George Specht scored on a sixth-inning error. Former Andale Warhawk Gavin Rogers and Specht homered for the Diamond Dawgs' final two runs.

The Bat Cats (13-10) downed the other Sunflower Collegiate League-leader Hutchinson 6-5  Tuesday with a ninth-inning rally. The Bat Cats return to Cheney Thursday for a doubleheader.
