Bat Cats start fund-raising

The Great Bend Bat Cats will stage a fundraiser at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 10th and Wadshington, next to the Salvation Army. Funds will provide maintenance for the Bat Cats team bus.

A $7 suggested donation will offer pulled pork or grilled bratwurst plus chips, cookies and bottled water.

A raffle will also be available for $1 per ticket or six tickets for $5. Winners earn cash, a Bat Cats T-shirt, a Bat Cats hat and $10 in Bat Cats Bucks.

While each day is one day closer to returning to baseball, each day is also one without baseball because of restrictions due to the coronavirus.

“The Covid-19 has put a damper on fundraising this year, and understandably so,” said Roger Ward, Bat Cats coach. “Our league is putting together a new schedule with a June 15th tentative start. Our players, and their families alike, are all excited to get this thing going.”
