HESSTON – Hoisington's Gracie Aylward drilled a grand slam and drove home eight runs as the Cardinals rolled past the Hesston Swathers 13-1 and 19-2 in Friday's Central Kansas League doubleheader.

HOISINGTON 13, HESSSTON 1 (G1) – Aylward's grand slam scored Kortney Lang, Ava Henry and Mollie Steiner to highlight an eight-run fourth inning. Jordyn Boxberger doubled twice and drove home four runs. Pitcher Kassidy Nixon struck out nine batter in five innings. 

Boxberger's two-run single and Lang's RBI single keyed a four-run first inning. Boxberger ripped an RBI double and Steiner hit an RBI single in the fourth inning. Kassidy Nixon and Boxberger scored on an error. Boxberger's RBI double scored Addyson Ogle with the Cardinals' lucky 13th run.

Hesston's Olivia Arnold singled home Sophia Waters for the Swathers' run.

HOISINGTON 19, HESSTON 2 (G2) – Cardinal  Aylward enjoyed another vintage game with four RBIs and three hits. Kadence Urban drove home three runs. Pitcher Kadence Urban struck out three batters in three innings.

Keeley Wolf, Lang and Ava Henry drove in first-inning runs. Aylward drilled a two-run double and Urban, Shaylah Kempke and Lang delivered RBI hits in a seven-run second inning. Kempke and Nixon scored on errors.

Kadence Urban ignited a nine-run third inning with a two-run homer and Aylward and Kashlin Beck hit two-RBI singles. Lang, Henry; Steiner, and Urban forced home runs on bases-loaded walks.

Hesston's Brynn Johnson homered in the first inning. Cassie Albin singled home Johnson after a third-inning double.
