LINDSBORG — Hoisington’s No. 2 doubles tandem of Hunter Morris/Ryan Woydziak lost 6-0, 6-0 in the championship match to Hesston’s Ben Bollinger/Andrew Schmidt (15-9) in Monday’s Central Kansas League Tennis Tournament.

Morris/Woydziak (21-6) beat Romero Cruz/Filow Cruz, 6-1, 6-2 in the first round and outlasted Smoky Valley’s Leroy Bean/Kellon Johnson, 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, (10-1) in the semifinals.  

Hoisington’s No. 1 singles Braden Mooney (21-9) placed third with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Pratt’s Rafe Donnenwerth. 

No. 2 singles Evan Foltz (21-8) placed fourth with a 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 loss to Hesston’s Josh Leinbach. No. 2 doubles Mason Haxton/Chase Maier (12-17) placed sixth with a 9-6 loss to Haven’s Zane Jacquez/Reiley Wagner.

Larned’s No. 1 singles Nicholas Ratzlaff (17-9) placed fifth with a 9-0 win over Lyons; Amare Campbell. No. 2 singles Matthew Figger (12-15) finished sixth with a 9-2 loss to Hillsboro’s Ethan Plenert. No. 1 doubles Phillip Applequist/Joseph Theis (14-13) placed fourth with a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Pratt’s Hogan Thompson/Keishaune Thompson. No. 2 doubles Clayton Kelty/Mason Mead (1-12) placed eighth with  9-7 loss to Lyons’ Phil Capps/Zach Kottas.

Hesston (63) edged Smoky Valley (61) for the CKL tennis championship.

Smoky Valley’s No. 1 singles Jake Lucas (25-4) powered past Hesston’s Trevor Gamble, 6-0, 6-1 for first place. Hesston’s No. 1 doubles Cole Deutschendorf/Micah Dahlsten (24-4) downed Smoky Valley’s Keaton Leiker/Per Nelson, 6-0, 6-0 for first place.

Smoky Valley’s No. 2 singles Mac Bieker (18-12) beat Pratt’s Micah tatro 6-2, 6-2 for first place.

BY JIM MISUNAS jmisunas@gbtribune.com PRATT — After Daxton Minton spun a 6-0 shutout, Great Bend completed a hard-fought 7-5 victory to sweep Pratt in Friday's non-league baseball doubleheader. Koehn Ribordy earned a save in game two and led the offense for the Panthers (6-1) with seven runs batted home in the twin bill. PANTHERS 6, PRATT 0 (G1) — Minton (1-0) fashioned a 2-hitter in a masterful 78-pitch outing. Third baseman Trenton Kern turned a double-play on Madden Wilson's fifth-inning groundball. Carson Umphres opened the game with a leadoff homer. Two Pratt errors and a walk led to a 3-run third inning. Koehn Ribordy singled home Kern and Minton. Ribordy scored on Owen Kaiser's single for a 4-0 lead. Ribordy singled home Minton in the fifth inning. Ribordy scored on a seventh-inning wild pitch. PANTHERS 7, PRATT 5 (G2) — Ribordy stayed red hot with two singles and four runs batted home. Ribordy recorded seven outs to earn a save after Slade Mohr pitched 42/3 innings. Pratt led 4-1 after two innings. Owen Schmidt scored on Cresten Pore's first-inning single. Madden Wilson singled in Kameron Cox. Gatlin scored on Craft's single. Ethan Koger scored on a groundball for a 4-1 lead. Mohr scored on Jaxon Wondra's groundball in a 4-run third inning. Umphres scored on a passed ball. Ian Premer and Minton scored on Ribordy's single for a 5-4 lead. Premer scored on Ribordy's fifth-inning groundout. Kern scored onn Kaiser's single for a 7-4 lead.
