HOISINGTON — Larned's Jadyn Crosby scored 14 points and Brooke Simmons chipped in 11 points as the Indians tied a rare record with no free throws attempted in a 47-30 Central Kansas League basketball victory over Hoisington.
Larned outscored the Cardinals 29-14 after halftime to spoil Senior Night. The No. 6 seeded Larned's girls (17-6, 5-2 CKL) play Scott City (8-12) Feb. 27 at the Larned 3A substate.
No. 8 seed Hoisington (11-9, 3-4 CKL) at home Feb. 27 against Colby (12-10), which lost 40-28 to Hugoton Friday.
“Our defense was excellent and we rebounded well," Larned coach Jerrod Smith. "We didn’t make shots in the first half, but we got good shots. It's a good win for us because Hoisington's a good team.”
Larned made 21 of 47 field goal attempts (44%). In a well-balanced attack Lauren Sleder, Taeten Reynolds and Cammy Upson each posted six points.
Hoisington's Kelsi Maier scored 10 points and Laeya Beck added eight. Tianna Lutters dished out five assists. Hoisington made 12 of 35 (34%), 1 of 14 on 3-point attempts.
A poor shooting first half left Larned ahead 18-16 at halftime. Larned outscored Hoisington 17-7 in the third quarter and coasted home.
Larned converted 13 of 26 field goals after halftime. Larned's defense forced 17 Hoisington turnovers. The Cardinals made five second-half field goals.

HOISINGTON BOYS 57, LARNED 24 — All-league Mason Martin scored 23 points and converted four 3-pointers in the first quarter to spark a dominating 57-24 Central Kansas League basketball victory over Larned Friday. Martin scored 21 first-half points.
Hoisington’s hot start was keyed by 15 of 28 shooting that included four 3-point baskets Kobe Crawford scored eight of 10 first half points. Carson Mason dished out five assists. Hoisington made 23 of 54 field goals (42.5%).
"It was a good night," said Hoisington coach Kyle Haxton. "It was good to get all our seniors out there and secure another home game. Everybody we played kept our intensity up."
No. 4 seed Hoisington (13-9, 5-2) clinches a home substate game Feb. 26 against Ellsworth (6-14), an ideal revenge matchup after the Bearcats surprised the Cardinals 58-50 on Valentine's Day.
The absence of 6-7 center Kylier Greene has led to a punchless Indian offense. Hoisington converted 20 Larned turnovers into easy baskets.
Koby Lang led the Indians with 10 points. No. 13 seed Larned (6-16, 1-6) will travel to Lakin (13-8) Feb. 26 in 3A postseason play. It marked the fifth consecutive game the Indians have scored no more than 25 points.
The inside strength and rebounding of 6’4” Brody Pfannenstiel and 6’2” Mason Martin allowed the Cardinals to control play in and around the basket and led to a number of second and third chance baskets.
“Mason Martin is a big-time player. With not much size, we couldn’t compete for rebounds," said Larned coach Luke Steinlage. "Our defense at the start was good, but their rebounding and our inability to hit a shot got us behind. It snowballed on us."
The Indians made 9 of 30 field goals (30%). Koby Lang was the only Indian in double figures as he scored 10 points.
