Cardinals roll past Ellis 35-14

HOISINGTON 35, ELLIS 14

HOISINGTON – Hoisington's Legend Robinson and Wyatt Wikum each scored two touchdowns as the Cardinals raced past Ellis 35-14 in the 2A football playoffs. Robinson scored on 2- and 40-yard runs and rushed for 144 yards. Wikum scored on nifty 7- and 12-yard runs 

Hoisington (8-1) plays Hays Thomas More Prep (7-2) at home in the second round. The Cardinals outscored Ellis 28-0 in the third quarter.

"We did a good job executing after halftime," said Hoisington coach Zach Baird. "Wyatt Wikum is a dangerous runner. He's quick and explosive and runs hard. I was proud how we played defensively."

Tony Moore scored on a 72-yard run and gained 127 yards. Moore caught a 37-yard pass and Mason Alderice caught a 34-yard pass. Chase Steinert recovered a fumble and M.J. Aylward intercepted a pass. 

Legend Robinson and Kaiden Hoffman combined for a loss and Robinson tackled Ellis quarterback Easton Burton to preserve a 7-0 lead. Later on, Ian Smith knocked away a potential touchdown pass.
