DODGE CITY Dodge City rallied from a 7-2 deficit to upset the Great Bend Bat Cats 9-8 on a game-ending single in Wednesdays Jayhawk League baseball game.

DODGE CITY – Dodge City rallied from a 7-2 deficit to upset the Great Bend Bat Cats 9-8 on a game-ending single in Wednesday’s Jayhawk League baseball game.
Jake Cruce singled home Carlos Arellano off hard-luck losing pitcher Nolan Riley, who struck out five batters. Blake Shinkle and Carlos Arellano were hit by pitches and Jordan Vukovick singled to load the bases.
Great Bend Bat Cat Johnson homered to start against the Dodge City A’s. The Bat Cats led 7-2.
Nolan Riley singled home Zack Berohn to ignite a three-run second inning. M Banks singled home Riley and Jack Bordovsky for a 4-0 lead.
Dodge City’s Cruce singled home Jordan Vukovich for a 4-1 score. Banks scored on a groundout for a 5-1 lead. Dante Faicchio scored on a Bat Cat fourth-inning error.
Blaine Ray singled home and Riley scored on a bases-loaded walk for a 7-2 lead after five innings.
The A’s rallied with a five-run sixth inning for a 7-7 tie. Blake Shinkle drilled a three-run homer off starter Hegarty. Dayton Cook singled home Arellano and Sean Noel hit a sacrifice fly off reliever Chandler Gant.

Tiger Carlson wins three events at Kinsley

KINSLEY —Pawnee Heights Tiger Brady Carlson swept first place in the high jump (5-8), long jump (19-01/2) and triple jump (41-51/2) at the Kinsley track meet. The Tigers placed runner-up in the 400-meter relay (56.16). Macksville's Hector Gomez won the 100 meters (11.51) and placed second in the 200 (25.23). Pawnee Heights Tiger Abby Hands won the discus (112-8) and javelin (97-10) and placed second in the shot put (33-111/2). Other first-place winners were Macksville's Diana Ibarra, 100 (13.79) and 200 (30.31). Runner-up medals were earned by Macksville's Ava Chadd, long jump (14-93/4) and Pawnee Heights' Abby Pelton, triple jump (30-71/2).
