Ellinwood baseball wins pair
ELLINWOOD – Ellinwood’s Bryan Jaske jump started a doubleheader sweep with 14 strikeouts in a 9-2 victory over Ellis. The Eagles completed the sweep with a wild 9-8 victory in the nightcap. Ellinwood (10-6) journeys to Minneapolis Friday.
ELLINWOOD 9, ELLIS 2 (G1) – Jaske (3-2) dominated the Railroaders after yielding two early runs.
Ellinwood’s Campbell Coleman led the offense with three RBIs. Cason Merritt drove home two runs. Cooper Hosman, Jaske and Drake Hosman drove home runs.
ELLINWOOD 9, ELLIS 8 (G2) – Ellinwood rallied from a 7-2 deficit by outscoring Ellis 7-1 for a thrilling comeback victory. Cooper Hosman scored the game-winning run on an Ellis error.
Ellinwood’s Merritt and Chase Gibson each drove home two runs. Dylan Gantz, Coleman, Jaske and Drake Hosman each drove in one run.
Ellinwood pitcher Gantz (2-1) struck out six batters and yielded no earned runs in 42/3 innings.
