GBMS starts wrestling season


Great Bend Middle School competed against Scott City Middle School and Hays Middle School in their first action of the season.  

Against Scott City, Great Bend’s Triston Tomlinson earned a takedown, a reversal and two near falls before ending with a pin.  Hayden Kelly lost 4-1. Caleb Mulligan, Corbyn Holinde and Max Heilman all lost on pins. Blake Stein lost 8-0. Slayde Apley lost 4-2. Trevin Maciel lost 7-6, Zaiden Burkes, Kia Britt and Josue Bustamante lost by pins. Trenton Kern won on an 18-second pin.

The Panthers won nine of 20 matches against Hays Middle School by wrestling more aggressively.

“For our first action of the season, we wrestled fairly well,” said GBMS coach Norbert Muth. “The other teams had wrestled already, and that showed. if we practice well, we’ll be a much improved team by the end of the season.”
