GMBS 7th-grade football roaring
GBMS 7th

The Great Bend Middle School 7th-grade football team has made easy work of their first three opponents under head coach Matt Barton. The Panthers have outscored three teams 112-12.

Quarterback Daxton Minton has thrown seven touchdowns and ran for five touchdowns. Ian Premer has rushed for seven touchdowns and 400 yards. He’s scored one receiving touchdown. Receiver Jacob Hall has 350 yards receiving and six touchdown receptions.

“Daxton is a huge part of what we do offensively because seven passing touchdowns and 500 yards in three games is unheard of in seventh grade,” Barton said. “Ian Premer plays linebacker and is second in tackles. Jacob Hall has great hands and is a matchup problem for every team we face. Trenton Kern is an absolute beast on the offensive line and linebacker, where’s he’s our leading tackler. He’s been in double-digit tackles every game.”

Barton said the team hopes to make continuous progress.

“We’re happy to be 3-0 but we still have plenty of work to do,” Barton said. “I’m extremely proud of our guys. We’ve had guys embrace the leadership role. It’s helped to a 3-0 start.”
