DODGE CITY — The Great Bend Braves A Legion baseball team was three outs away from a sweep over Dodge City Tuesday night.

But Dodge City rallied for three runs to steal a split with a 6-5 victory in the nightcap. The Braves won the opener 14-8.

The Braves (5-8) play Hoisington at 6 p.m. Friday at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The Braves play Hutchinson and Hays Saturday. at the Braves Tournament.

BRAVES 14, DODGE CITY 8 (G1) — Nine Braves contributed a run, hit or RBI in an 11-hit attack. Brad Beck, Joseph Moeder and Esten Moore each drove home two runs. Mathew Moeder earned the victory.

Beck doubled home Jade Poe and scored on a first-inning error. Moore doubled home Mathew Moeder and Stefan Spray and Sage Koelsch singled home Moore for a 5-1 lead after two innings.

Paco Hernandez doubled home Chayse Gruber and Spray, Hernandez and Moore scored on a third-inning error for a 9-1 lead. Joseph Moeder and Gruber delivered RBI singles. Beck scored on a stolen base and Gruber scored on a passed ball in a four-run fourth inning. Beck singled home Koelsch in the fifth inning for a 14-6 lead.  

DODGE CITY 5, BRAVES 4 (G2) — Dodge City stole the nightcap with a seventh-inning double, two singles and two walks against relievers Brad Beck and Joseph Moeder after starter Jade Poe worked five effective innings.

Koelsch scored a run and Gruber’s single scored Gavin Haberman for a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jade Poe scored on Haberman’s groundball for a 3-2 lead after six innings. Gruber scored a seventh-inning insurance run on Paco Hernandez’s sacrifice bunt for a 4-2 lead.
