DODGE CITY — After starting with an 11-1 record, the Great Bend Middle School 7th-grade volleyball team enjoyed a season highlight by sweeping first place at the Dodge City Middle School.
“We have great chemistry and the girls are working hard for every point,” said Great Bend 7th-grade coach Jessica Nairn. “I told the girls at the beginning of the year I wanted them to make an impact and they have done just that.”
The Panthers started with a 15-3, 15-5 victory over Garden City Horace Good as the girls definitely made an impact.
Great Bend Middle School edged past Dodge City Middle School 15-10, 15-8 and Dodge City Comanche Middle School 15-3, 13-15 and 15-7 in a hard-fought match. The Panthers edged Pratt Middle School 15-12, 15-10.
They outlasted Garden City Ken Henderson 15-3, 14-16 and 17-15 to capture the 7th-grade volleyball championship.
The A-team Panthers improve to 16-1.
