LARNED – Haven wasted no time in establishing superiority against the Larned Indians.
Haven’s John Williams intercepted Koby Lang's first pass. Cole Brawner rambled 16 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead, en route to a 56-0 Central Kansas League football victory.
Brawner intercepted another Lang pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead. Brawner 1-yard score handed the Wildcats a 28-0 lead after one quarter.
Haven’s Kolton Altvater’s booming kickoffs kept Larned pinned deep, and the Indians failed to mount effective drives. Altvater converted eight extra-point kicks and sent numerous kickoffs into the end zone.
Larned’s offensive production was sparked by back Jax Johnson. Haven’s speed limited Larned’s outside run and passing game. Haven led 49-0 at halftime.
Haven quarterback Brogan Wray completed five first-half passes and scored on 3- and 36-yard runs. Cole Proffit scored on 32- and 54-yard runs in the Wildcat offensive explosion.
The Indians played without its top two experienced quarterbacks.
"Our quarterback had never taken a snap at that position until this week," said Larned coach Jason Duvall. "We dealt with losing our top two quarterbacks last week. Koby did a great job and our kids gave great effort. Obviously, when the game was out of hand, we played our younger guys in the second half."
Haven (6-0) rolled up 382 yards of total offense.
Larned (0-6) continued to compete with a small roster depleted by numerous injuries. District 7 champion Hoisington (4-2) invades Larned Friday.
