HAYS – Dalyn Schwarz’s value as Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year was proven when Hays High lost 52-49 to Topeka West after a 22-game winning streak. Schwarz injured an ankle and missed valuable minutes in the 5A state quarterfinal game. Schwarz averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds with a pair of double/doubles.

Hays High coach Alex Hutchinson was WAC Coach of the Year for the Indians (22-1, 8-0 WAC).

“He’s the best leader, the hardest working player we had,” Hutchins said. “On the defensive end, he knew exactly what we asked of him”
