HOISINGTON – Hoisington’s Mason Alderdice enjoyed a spectacular outing with three touchdowns, highlighted by a 79-yard interception return in the Cardinals’ 42-18 playoff victory over Phillipsburg.
Hoisington coach Zach Baird is unbeaten (9-0) in first-round playoff games. Hoisington (7-2) plays Russell (6-3) in next week’s second round.
Alderdice gained 119 yards rushing and scored on 22- and 46-yard runs. Teron Kraft scored on a 24-yard run. Leyton Haxton caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Tony Moore. Ian Smith scored on a 1-yard run.
The Cardinals started with a pair of lost fumbles. Phillipsburg’s Jesse Blackburn completed a 14-yard scoring pass to Ethan Miller. Alderdice followed Moore’s 15-yard run with a 46-yard score. Blackburn answered with a 38-yard touchdown run.
Smith capped a scoring drive on a 1-yard run. Haxton followed with his touchdown reception. Alderdice delivered back-to-back touchdowns on a 22-yard run and 79-yard interception. Hoisington gained 379 yards rushing and 55 yards passing.
Kraft led the defense with six tackles and five assists. Caiden Hoffman had three tackles and five assists.

ROZEL – Pawnee Heights contributed three rushing and three passing touchdowns as the Tigers outlasted Altoona-Midway 49-46 in Friday's Six-Man playoff shootout. Dakota Ryan intercepted a pass and recovered the game's final onside kickoff. The Tigers stopped Altoona Midway twice in short-yardage situations to swing the momentum.
Elusive Tiger quarterback Davin Hamby accounted for seven touchdowns. He rushed for 244 yards and scored on 3, 4, 20 and 45-yard runs. Hamby passed for 141 yards and completed 5- and 20-yard touchdown passes to Dakota Ryan. Alex Ibarra caught the game-winning 33-yard touchdown pass from Hamby. Jimmy Gardner scored on a 5-yard run. Gardner rushed for 69 yards and passed for 40 yards.
Gardner contributed 12 tackles and six assists. Ryan and Hamby each had 12 tackles. Ryan intercepted a pass that set up a Tiger touchdown.
Altoona-Midway's William Stackhouse caught 40, 52 and 63-yard touchdown passes and scored on a 67-yard kickoff return. Brandon Johnson threw two touchdown passes and caught a scoring pass. Jacob Meigs threw two touchdown passes. Kieran Foster scored two touchdowns.
The Tigers (4-5) journey to Waverly (8-0) for a second-round playoff showdown.

SATANTA – Satanta tailback Edwin Arana rushed for 208 yards and four touchdowns to spark the Indians past St. John 72-25 in Fridays non-district football game.
Quarterback Kacen Anthony enjoyed a strong night with three rushing touchdowns and 127 yards. Victor Manriguez scored on a 59-yard kickoff return and caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Anthony. Bobby Salazar intercepted two passes and Arana intercepted one pass.
