Hutchinson high school all-star game Saturday

HUTCHINSON -- The Hutchinson Community College Quarterback Club will sponsor the 41st Mid-Kansas All-Star Classic Saturday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. 

The girls game begins at 1 p.m. and will have a 3-point contest at halftime. Nickerson's Jon McLean and Haven's Dwight Roper will lead the teams.

The American team includes Bri Rutherford (South Central), Presley Barton (Mill Valley), Blair Hollenbeck (Pretty Prairie), Madison Haney (Ulysses), Brylee Engelland (Nickerson), Paiton Bruce (Andale), Alexandria Altum (Nickerson), Morgan Schrag (Pretty Prairie) and Hannah Askew (South Gray).

The National team includes Arie Roper (Haven), Kara Heimerman (Garden Plain), Kaitlyn Rasmussen (Pratt), Jada Mayberry (Kapaun Mount Carmel), Kiley Seidl (Hutchinson), Olivia Shank (Trinity Catholic), Jordan Barlow (Haven), Jayla Bynum (Hutchinson) and Jordan Galliher (Trinity Catholic).

The boys game begins at 3 p.m. and will feature a slam dunk contest at halftime. Hutchinson Blue Dragons coaches Brian Miller (American) and Cortland Carney (National) will lead the teams.

The American team includes Josh Bridgewater (Trinity Catholic), Tate Webster (Hutchinson), Clayton Hood (Derby), Kaleb Dale (Haven), Jaylen Randle (Wichita East), Noah Sowers (Derby), Devin Finley (Central Christian), Kaleb Hammeke (Trinity Catholic), Izaiah Hale (Wichita Heights) and Elex Banks (Salina South).

The National team includes Jake Alexander (McPherson), Jaden Okon (Wichita Heights), Johnny Murdock (Wichita Southeast), Payton Froese (Inman), Hunter Jones (Nickerson), Jack Neal (Trinity Catholic), Alex Hammersmith (Trinity Catholic), Zac Burton (Augusta), Andrew O’Brien (Halstead) and Trenton Driskill (Valley Center).

Doors open at noon. Spectators should enter the east side of the Arena. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children 5 years and younger are free.

BY JIM MISUNAS jmisunas@gbtribune.com PRATT — After Daxton Minton spun a 6-0 shutout, Great Bend completed a hard-fought 7-5 victory to sweep Pratt in Friday's non-league baseball doubleheader. Koehn Ribordy earned a save in game two and led the offense for the Panthers (6-1) with seven runs batted home in the twin bill. PANTHERS 6, PRATT 0 (G1) — Minton (1-0) fashioned a 2-hitter in a masterful 78-pitch outing. Third baseman Trenton Kern turned a double-play on Madden Wilson's fifth-inning groundball. Carson Umphres opened the game with a leadoff homer. Two Pratt errors and a walk led to a 3-run third inning. Koehn Ribordy singled home Kern and Minton. Ribordy scored on Owen Kaiser's single for a 4-0 lead. Ribordy singled home Minton in the fifth inning. Ribordy scored on a seventh-inning wild pitch. PANTHERS 7, PRATT 5 (G2) — Ribordy stayed red hot with two singles and four runs batted home. Ribordy recorded seven outs to earn a save after Slade Mohr pitched 42/3 innings. Pratt led 4-1 after two innings. Owen Schmidt scored on Cresten Pore's first-inning single. Madden Wilson singled in Kameron Cox. Gatlin scored on Craft's single. Ethan Koger scored on a groundball for a 4-1 lead. Mohr scored on Jaxon Wondra's groundball in a 4-run third inning. Umphres scored on a passed ball. Ian Premer and Minton scored on Ribordy's single for a 5-4 lead. Premer scored on Ribordy's fifth-inning groundout. Kern scored onn Kaiser's single for a 7-4 lead.
