Kyle Gates sparks Bat Cats' offense

BAT CATS 11, HAYSVILLE AVIATORS 1 – Former Barton Cougar Jarrett Seaton (2-1, 1.07 ERA) delivered a strong impression with eight strikeouts and zero earned runs before getting tossed out by umpires after directing comments to Aviator players. Seaton retired Drew Bristow, Traelon Yarbrough and Cody Muncy after back-to-back fifth-inning singles to end his biggest threat.

The Bat Cats (24-12, 19-12 SCL) won their fifth consecutive game.

No. 9 hitter Kyle Gates drove home four runs with four hits to spark the Bat Cats’ offense. Former Barton Cougar Chandler Bloomer contributed three runs batted home in his 2021 Bat Cats debut at catcher.

Zane Spinn drove home Noah Best with a first-inning groundout. Haysville’s Romel Martinez scored on a second-inning error.

Best tripled home Gates and Bloomer singled home Best for a 3-1 lead. Gates tripled home Brett Freiberg and Tyler Henry in the fourth inning  Gates scored on a wild pitch for a 6-1 lead.

Jett Forrest scored on Henry’s sixth-inning double to spark a four-run inning. Gates singled home Brett Freiberg and Henry. Bloomer singled home Gates for a 10-1 lead.

Bloomer ended the game on the 10-run rule with an eighth-inning single that scored Best.

Bat Cats reliever Payton Tinkler started with three strikeouts and worked two scoreless innings.
