HILLSBORO—The Larned Lady Indians raced to a 16-2 lead and rolled past Hillsboro 51-37 in Friday’s Central Kansas League basketball game.
Larned led at halftime 26-12 and 40-21 after three periods.
In building the lead to 21 points in the third quarter, Larned made seven of eight shots as they continually worked inside. Larned converted 20 of 36 shots.
“I was pleased with how we ran our offense,” said Larned coach Ashley Crosby. “We felt like we could score on the inside against them and we were successful at that. This was an important win for us as we strive to get a first-round home game at sub-state.”
Larned’s Katie Fischer dominated with 19 points and nine rebounds. Katelyn Sanger had 9 points and Baylea Perez 7.
Larned forced 16 Hillsboro turnovers. Kinsey Kleiner led the Trojans with 14 points and Teegan Werth had 13.
Larned (7-9, 3-3 CKL) owns the fourth seed in the 3A Kismet substate. Larned starts a three-game homestand with Hesston Tuesday.
