LARNED – Brock Skelton and Mason Perez delivered big plays Friday as Larned outscored Holcomb 32-21.

Quarterback Dillan Smith completed three touchdown passes to Skelton, who had 149 yards receiving. Perez scored two touchdowns and rushed for 135 yards. Smith passed for 185 yards. Larned was tagged with nine penalties and a lost fumble.

“Give Holcomb coach Teeter a lot of credit,” said Larned coach tad Remy. “He had a great game plan and they carried it out. We made good adjustments that got our offense going. The mistakes, penalties and turnovers, are still haunting us.”

Larned (3-2, 2-0 District) plays at Nickerson and Holcomb (2-3, 1-1) plays at Kingman.

Holcomb’s first drive was stopped on a fourth down at the Larned 23. But Larned’s fumble handed the Longhorns an 8-yard touchdown pass from Kaden Johnson to Trey Cox for a 7-0 lead.

“We have a hard time getting into the flow,” Remy said. “Credit our seniors, who carried us tonight.”

Larned answered with a 16-yard TD [pass from Smith to Skelton for a 7-7 halftime tie.

Larned’s Perez broke an 28-yard run and and Skelton caught a 37-yard touchdown pass for a 14-7 lead. Larned’s drives were slowed by flags and Johnson hit Cox for a 13-yard touchdown pass for a 14-14 tie.

Larned’s Skelton caught an 86-yard touchdown pass and Perez added a 29-yard TD for a 26-14 lead. Holcomb’s Levi Knoll’s caught a 61-yard TD pass for a 26-21 score.

Perez had a 66-yard touchdown run negated by a holding penalty. But Skelton delivered a terrific 69-yard punt, pinning Holcomb on their own 3-yard line. Skelton intercepted a Johnson pass at midfield. Perez sealed the win with a 38-yard score.

PANTHERS 16, PRATT 11 (G1) — DeShawnna Bryant drilled a game-clinching 3-run homer after the Panthers' 12-run lead was sliced to 13-11. Bryant drove home four runs with three hits and three runs scored. The Panthers led 12-0 on a 9-run second inning and a 3-run third frame. Callie Umphres drove home four runs with three hits. Kya Behr plated three runs with a pair of singles. Kamryn Koelsch, Alyssa McCauley, Denver Ringo and Chayla Prendergast drove in runs. After three shutout innings, Pratt roughed up starter McCauley for seven earned runs and a trio of homers. Pratt's Copus ripped a 2-run and 3-run homer. Sydney Riley hit a 2-run homer.
