Larned Indian Mason Perez delivers a bases-loaded triple that scores three runs against Hillsboro in an 11-6 first-game baseball victory.

LARNED — The Larned Indians rallied from a 4-0 deficit for an 11-6 opening Central Kansas League baseball victory over Hillsboro Tuesday. The Dragons gained revenge with a 16-5 victory.

Larned (8-6, 6-6 CKL) stays above .500 while Halstead (3-8, 3-8 CKL) stopped a losing streak.

LARNED 11, HILLSBORO 6 (G1) — Jack Stelter delivered a two-run single in a seven-run third inning that sparked the Indians.

The Trojans led 4-0 off Indian starter Aidan Smyth. Caleb Potucek scored on a first-inning sacrifice fly. Caleb Potucek singled home Jess Philpot and Corbin Marple scored on a groundout. Caleb Potucek scored on a second-inning error for a 4-0 lead.

Larned’s Dillan Smith scored on an error and Mason Perez’s single scored Mello Bryant and Brayden Lemuz for a 4-3 score after two frames.

Dillan Smith scored on a wild pitch to start a seven-run rally. Tristen Burger’s single scored Bryant. Lemuz scored on a groundball. Stelter’s two-run single scored Perez and Smyth for an 8-4 lead. Logan Erway’s single scored Layton Pleasant and Dillan Smith’s single scored Erway for a 10-4 lead.

Lemuz scored on Smyth’s groundball for an 11-4 lead. Hillsboro’s Matt Potucek homered off reliever Pleasant to bring home Caleb Potucek for an 11-6 final.  

HALSTEAD 16, LARNED 5  Hillsboro outscored Larned 12-0 after trailing 5-4 after four innings. Brooks Gardner tripled, double twice and drove home five runs. Hunter Hein doubled and drove home four runs. The Trojans scored 12 runs in their final three at-bats.

Larned scored five runs in the fourth inning. Aidan Smyth scored on Dillan Smith's sacrifice fly. Layton Pleasant was forced home on a bases-loaded walk to Brandon Ceniceros. Mason Perez cleared the bases with a bases-loaded triple to score Logan Erway, Mello Bryant and Ceniceros for a brief 5-4 lead.
