Larned girls win Lyons track title

LYONS – Larned Indian Kaylee Hagerman won four events with wins in the 200 meters (27.42), long jump (16-11/4); triple jump (33-1) and on the 400-meter relay (53.06) with Alexa Beltz, Akielah Collins and Cara Herbert.

The Indians (125) won the team title ahead of Lyons (94).

Larned’s Cadee Upson swept the shot put (37-3) and discus (102-6). Herbert won the 100-meter hurdles (17.74).

Other winners were Macksville’s Madison Butler, 1,600 (6:16.66) and 3,200 (13:32.96); St. John’s Mia Meyer, 300 hurdles (52.54); Ellinwood’s Julia Schlessiger, 800 (2:40.93); St. John’s 1,600 relay (12:09.99) with Averi Fisher, Reagen Bonner, Heidi Fisher, Lydia Reed; and Central Plains Oiler Lauren Oeser, javelin (126-6).

Minton's shutout sparks sweep over Pratt

BY JIM MISUNAS jmisunas@gbtribune.com PRATT — After Daxton Minton spun a 6-0 shutout, Great Bend completed a hard-fought 7-5 victory to sweep Pratt in Friday's non-league baseball doubleheader. Koehn Ribordy earned a save in game two and led the offense for the Panthers (6-1) with seven runs batted home in the twin bill. PANTHERS 6, PRATT 0 (G1) — Minton (1-0) fashioned a 2-hitter in a masterful 78-pitch outing. Third baseman Trenton Kern turned a double-play on Madden Wilson's fifth-inning groundball. Carson Umphres opened the game with a leadoff homer. Two Pratt errors and a walk led to a 3-run third inning. Koehn Ribordy singled home Kern and Minton. Ribordy scored on Owen Kaiser's single for a 4-0 lead. Ribordy singled home Minton in the fifth inning. Ribordy scored on a seventh-inning wild pitch. PANTHERS 7, PRATT 5 (G2) — Ribordy stayed red hot with two singles and four runs batted home. Ribordy recorded seven outs to earn a save after Slade Mohr pitched 42/3 innings. Pratt led 4-1 after two innings. Owen Schmidt scored on Cresten Pore's first-inning single. Madden Wilson singled in Kameron Cox. Gatlin scored on Craft's single.
