DODGE CITY — Jaxon Wondra sparked Great Bend's baseball team into first place in the Western Athletic Conference in an 11-0 and 7-4 sweep over Dodge City.
The Panthers (11-7, 7-3 WAC) started WAC play losing to Garden City and Hays.
PANTHERS 11, DODGE CITY 0 (G1) — Hard-throwing Jaxon Wondra (5-0) dominated with six strikeouts in an efficient 74-pitch outing.
Third baseman Carter Dreiling and second baseman Rafael Chavez turned a second-inning double play. First baseman Kale Kern turned a third-inning double play.
Jaxon Wondra drove in three runs. Trenton Kern and Daxton Minton each drove in two runs.
The Panthers scored six first-inning runs. Wondra's double scored Minton and Ribordy. Wondra scored on Trenton Kern's single. Chavez doubled in Kern. Chavez scored on Christian Alcala's groundout. Alcala scored on Minton's groundball.
