Bryce Moore, a two-time Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, enjoyed a strong home debut with a first-place 717 series (224-257-236) to spark the Panthers to a 9-2 dual victory over Dodge City Thursday.

Moore marked in all 30 frames and ran out four consecutive strikes to end two of his games. Moore knocked down at least seven pins on every shot and converted every spare. Moore found his mark and kept throwing consistent first shots.

The Panthers swept six points with 697-630, 822-627 and 812-633 head-to-head wins. Dodge City salvaged two points with a pair of Baker-format wins.

“Any day I shoot 700, it’s a good day,” Moore said. “I threw good shots and just kept doing that. It was lot easier today. It’s more of a team effort today.”

Panther Corbin Stanley was runner-up 541 (177-180-184) and Ashton Ensley placed third 532 (138-173-221).

The Panthers shot Baker scores of 134, 154 and 180, well beloew last week’s performance in Wichita.

“We all struggled in Bakers. None of us really shot that well,” Moore said.

Great Bend coach David Feldbauer was pleased with the solid performance with several varsity players still gaining valuable experience.

“We missed our target by a lot,” Feldbauer said. “We missed some easy spares and that’s about targeting. The boys played up-and-down. We should’ve scored higher. We bowled better in Bakers last week in Wichita.”

Defending WAC bowling champion Garden City visits Great Bend Tuesday.

GIRLS — WAC Player of the Year Paige Wagner earned medalist honors with a 604 series (204-174-226). Wagner marked in all 10 frames and finished strong in the 10th frame.

Wagner rolled superbly on her first ball, but left a few 10-pins on her spare attempts.

“Just all of us threw well today,” Wagner said. “We were happy.”

Great Bend’s Sahara Rhiza was runner-up with a 585 series (195-223-167) and Kaylin Wahlmeier finished third with a 549 series (171-212-166). The top three bowlers all scored over 200.

The Great Bend girls won two of the three series and the third game both teams rolled 708.

‘Overall, the girls did amazing,” Feldbauer said. “I was proud of the girls today.”
