QUINTER – Pawnee Heights girls basketball coach Doug Ellison is smiling. The Tigers outlasted Grinnell-Wheatland 47-45 in double overtime for third place at the Quinter Caste Rock Tournament.
The Tigers (3-1) outscored Wheatland 6-4 in the second overtime as Olivia Hands scored four points and Joselyn Cordero-Valles added two free throws.
Olivia Hands scored 20 points and Abby Hands scored 20 points. Addy Pelton hit a 3-pointer, Abby Hands scored two and Olivia Hands sank a free throw in the first overtime.
“The girls fought hard to grind out a third-place finish in double overtime,” said Tiger girels coach Doug Ellison. “I’m proud of the no- quit attitude they had.”

QUINTER – Pawnee Heights Tiger Jimmy Gardner scored a career high 22 points and Davin Hamby contributed 15 points in a 55-26 victory over Wheatland for fifth place at the Quinter Castle Rock Tournament.
The Tigers (1-3) converted seven 3-pointers to outscore Wheatland 21-9 from long range.
