St. John-Hudson 71, Larned 54
LARNED — St. John-Hudson High School trailed after eight minutes, falling behind host Larned 21-15.
The Tigers turned on their strangle-hold defense in the second quarter, outscoring the Indians 17-2 to lead 32-23 at intermission.
St. John went on to win the championship game of the Seventh Annual Gene Keady Basketball Classic on Saturday night.
Zuriel Reyes finished with a game-high 22 points, going 9-for-10 from the free-throw line.
Dean Wade added 21 points, and Kade Kinnamon scored 10 points for the Tigers.
Easton Palmer led the Indians with 15 points.
Brayden Smith put in 14 points, and Jake Zimmerman also finished in double digits with 10 points.

LARNED — Tied at 17 after one quarter, the third-place matchup of the Gene Keady Classic was anyone’s game.
Spearville took a 38-29 lead into halftime, and added to it in the second half to pull away.
Macksville was led by Jordan Welch, who finished with 17 points.
Tanner Tranbarger added 16 points, and Simon Miller scored 13 points for the Mustangs.

LARNED — A fourth-quarter rally led to Hoisington beating Kiowa County in the fifth-place game of the Gene Keady Classic.
Christopher Wright scored eight of his team-leading 15 points in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals.
Seth Owen added eight points, and Terry Crawford scored seven points.

Kinsley closed to within 21-18 at halftime, but the Eagles put the Coyotes away late.
Marc Waite put in six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 27 points.
Tanner Swank added 14 points, and Kaleb Schartz scored 13 points for the Eagles.

Central Plains 50, Ell-Saline 13
LINCOLN — Layne Bieberle was an offensive force with 30 points to spark Central Plains past Ell-Saline in Saturday’s championship game. Central Plains improved to 4-0.
Bieberle scored 30 of Central Plains’ 45 points through three periods. Bieberle scored 12 baskets and 5 of 6 free throws. The Oilers led 28-7 at halftime and 45-10 after three periods.
The Oilers’ stifling defense dominated the Cardinals. Central Plains shut out 3-point shooter Ethan Steinbruck and held Ell-Saline’s leading scorer Luiz Antonio Arceo to 2 points. Ell-Saline made five field goals.
