GIRLS
St. John 76,
Western Plains 20

ST. JOHN — The St. John High School girls’ basketball team bounced back from a 40-29 loss to Pratt in the championship game of the Pratt High School Tournament of Champions over the weekend.
The Lady Tigers (11-1), who are ranked No. 1 in Class 1A Division-I in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll, scored 31 points in the first quarter to rout Western Plains on Tuesday.
Jamie Waters finished with a game-high 22 points, including 14 in the first half.
Teresa Wade finished with 19 points, Alexis Witt scored 12 and Morgan Osborne added 11.
Maci Hagelgantz led Western Plains with eight points.
The Lady Tigers travel to Central Plains on Friday night.

TMP-Marian 39, Ellinwood 28
ELLINWOOD — Ellinwood led 19-12 at halftime.
However, Thomas More Prep-Marian of Hays scored 18 points in the third quarter to take the lead for good.
The Lady Eagles (4-9) were led by Kelsey Ward, who finished with eight points.
Darri Beckwith and Lindsay Zink each added five points.
Ellinwood challenges Mid-Central Acitivities Association foe Larned on the road on Friday night.

Pratt-Skyline 56, Stafford 21
PRATT — Kaitlyn Stark scored 28 points to lead Pratt-Skyline past Stafford.
The Lady Thunderbirds are ranked No. 2 in Class 2A.
Stafford (0-6) was led by Kym Womack and Adriane Millershaski, who each scored six points.

BOYS
St. John 59,
Western Plains 23

ST. JOHN — Spencer Nusser had a huge first quarter, scoring 11 of his 15 points including a trio of 3-pointers, to lead St. John to a 15-2 lead after eight minutes.
Nusser finished with four 3-pointers, and the Tigers (8-5) continued to build its lead.
Zuriel Reyes scored a game-high 17 points, including eight in the second quarter.
Casey Kraus and Chad Ryersee each scored 11 points to lead the Bobcats.

Central Plains 40,
Otis-Bison 36

OTIS — Central Plains was ahead 25-22 after three quarters, and held on to beat Otis-Bison on the road.
The Oilers (5-8) were led by Bryce Straub and Tim Stueder, who each scored nine points.
Otis-Bison (10-5), which is ranked No. 7 in Class 1A Division-II, was led by Dylan Wissman, who finished with a game-high 12 points.

Macksville 78, LaCrosse 44
LACROSSE — Macksville held a 45-18 lead at halftime, and LaCross was unable to make up the ground.
The Mustangs (10-3), who are ranked No. 7 in Class 1A Division-I, was led by Taylor Tranbarger and Tanner Tranbarger, who each scored 17 points.
Senior point guard Adam Oak finished with nine points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Tanner Yohe led LaCrosse with nine points.
Macksville travels to Victoria on Friday night.

Kinsley 51,
Pawnee Heights 23

ROZEL — Kinlsey jumped ahead 14-2 after the first quarter of play against Pawnee Heights and maintained the lead to win.
Kinsley was led by Nathan Frame, who finished with a game-high 15 points.
Chad Wallace led the Tigers with nine points.

TMP-Marian 64, Ellinwood 42
ELLINWOOD — Thomas More Prep-Marian of Hays built a 16-11 lead after one quarter and widened it to 28-20 before halftime.
The Monarchs continued to spread the margin in the second half against Ellinwood.
Kyle Blakeslee scored 21 points to lead the Eagles.
