CLAFLIN — The Central Plains High School girls’ basketball team shut down Hill City on Saturday night.
The Lady Oilers led 29-24 at halftime, and Central Plains outscored Hill City 18-7 in the third quarter.
Breanna Holmes led Central Plains with 18 points.
Taylor Rolfs scored 17 points, and Reagan Phelan added 11.
BOYS
Central Plains 60, Hill City 37
CLAFLIN — Central Plains had four players in double figures against Hill City.
The Oilers led 15-2 after eight minutes on their way to a rout.
Konnor Hickel hit 5 3-pointers on his way to a team-leading 17 points.
Michael Ryan scored 14 points.
Braedan Crites and Layne Bieberle added 12 points each.

Central Plains 58,
St. John-Hudson 32
CLAFLIN — St. John hung with Central Plains in the first quarter, but the Lady Oilers scored 26 points in the second to take off with the game.
Led by Janae Ryan, who scored all 17 of her points in the second quarter, making five 3-pointers and a pair of free throws, Central Plains held a 39-24 lead at intermission and added to it in the second half.
Reagan Phelan scored a game-high 20 points for the Oilers.
Alexis Witt led St. John with 12 points, scoring eight in the first quarter.

CLAFLIN — St. John led by five after one quarter, and 10 at intermission.
Central Plains cut into the lead in the third quarter, trailing 46-38 heading into the final eight minutes.
However St. John scored 24 points, making 15 of 19 free throws in the final quarter to remain on top.
Dean Wade started the game strong, scoring 13 of his game-high 28 points in the first quarter. He also went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line in the fourth period.
Zuriel Reyes added 20 points, and Kade Kinnamon scored 14.
Layne Bieberle led the Oilers with 19 points.
Michael Ryan scored 11 points for Central Plains.

Macksville 67, Victoria 62
VICTORIA — Macksville held on to edge Victoria in a road matchup on Friday night.
The Mustangs held a 46-38 lead heading into the final eight minutes, thanks in part to a 17-10 third quarter.
The Knights outscored the Mustangs 24-21 in the final period, but couldn’t rally.
Tanner Tranbarger led Macksville with 29 points, going 9-for-19 from the field.
Simon Miller added a double-double, scoring 13 point and grabbing a team-leading 14 rebounds.
Jordan Welch also added 13 points.
