ST. JOHN — The St. John High School girls’ basketball team was able to take Friday night’s game away from Claflin in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Wildcats 11-6.
The Lady Tigers, ranked No. 6 in Class 1A Division-I in the latest Kansas Coaches Basketball Association poll, were led by Teresa Wade, who rang up 19 points in the game.
Claflin, ranked No. 5 in Class 1A Division-I, leaned on Courtney Liebl, who put in 16 points.

BUSHTON — Hoisington was able to outscore Quivira Heights 9-2 in the first quarter and 14-2 in the final eight minutes to beat the Lady Thunderbirds, No. 9-ranked in Class 1A Division-II on Friday night.
Hoisington was led by a trio of Lady Cardinals with eight points — Britany Axman, Belle Brickley and Blakelee Cooper.
Kinsey Phelan led Quivira Heights with a game-high 13 points.

Keira Parr, who connected on three 3-pointers in the game, led the Lady Mustangs with 11 points.
Megan Wood, back in the line up after an injury, narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds.
