WICHITA— Senior Jayce Brack threw his way into a pair of second place finishes at Friday’s round the 2015 state meet.

In the shot put, Brack launched a throw of 54-11.00 to win the silver. Brack headed to the discus ring where he threw 163-10 which was also ggod for second place.

Leavenworth’s William Morris won both event at 69-04.50 and 185-05 respectively.

Kate Warren finished in the top ten in Saturday’s girls discus with a fourth place throw of 116-08 while Camryn Dunekack posted a top ten finish in the high jump with a sixth place vertical of five ft. Warren placed 14th in the shot put at 33-11.50.

In girls running events, Kaylan Lagerman finished in the top ten with a ninth place time of 2:24.48 in the 800 meter run. Mariah Stein, Baleigh Fry, Macy Moyers and Kaylan Lagerman polled a top ten finish placing eighth in the 4x800 relay in 10:21.60.

In boys running events the 4x800 relay squad of Eric Vasquez, Mason YellowWolf, Quinton Elliot and Isaiah Davis placed eighth in a time of 8:25.60

In the 110 meter hurdles, Jeffery Muiruri took eighth place in a time of 15.75. Kerby Depenbusch placed 12th out of 15 runners in the 3200 run in a time of 10:14.52.

HAYS — Sylvan Grove’s Legion baseball team rallied for a 5-4 victory over Ellinwood on Colin Obermueller’s game-winning single in Wednesday’s AA Russell Zone baseball tournament. The game was moved to Hays from Russell because of a unplayable field.Ellinwood (9-10) plays Thursday against the Marysville-Smith Center loser.Ellinwood led 4-1 after 41/2 innings. Sylvan Grove led 1-0 when Dylan Fry scored a first-inning run.Ellinwood’s Levi Swenson scored a second-inning run on a double steal with Evan Johanning.
