Cardinals sweep Ellis in twinbill

HOISINGTON — The Hoisington High School baseball team swept Ellis on Tuesday, blowing away the Railers 15-0 in three innings in Game 1, and held on for a 2-1 win in Game 2.
The Cardinals are 11-5 overall.
Hoisington had six extra-base hits in drowning Ellis in runs in Game 1.
In Game 2, Terry Crawford took the mound for Hoisington.
Crawford scattered two hits and allowed no earned runs and had no walks. He had seven strike outs in seven innings.
The Cardinals scored two runs on five hits.
Hoisington hosts Sedgwick on Friday.

HAYS — Sylvan Grove’s Legion baseball team rallied for a 5-4 victory over Ellinwood on Colin Obermueller’s game-winning single in Wednesday’s AA Russell Zone baseball tournament. The game was moved to Hays from Russell because of a unplayable field.Ellinwood (9-10) plays Thursday against the Marysville-Smith Center loser.Ellinwood led 4-1 after 41/2 innings. Sylvan Grove led 1-0 when Dylan Fry scored a first-inning run.Ellinwood’s Levi Swenson scored a second-inning run on a double steal with Evan Johanning.
