CLAFLIN — The No. 1 ranked Class 2A Central Plains completed a three-game sweep over St. John with a 46-45 Central Prairie League basketball victory.
Central Plains (14-0, 4-0 CPL) maintains first place while
St. John (11-3, 3-1 CPL) has lost all three games to the Oilers. The teams will likely meet for the fourth time in the St. John Class 2A substate.
St. John’s Jacob Milton scored 19 points to spark the Tigers.
The Oilers pulled ahead when Michael Ryan and Devin Ryan hit back-to-back 3-pointers for a 42-38 lead. Cole Kinnamon gave the Tigers a 37-36 lead on a driving shot.
Oiler Devin Ryan hit a pair of free throws for a 44-38 lead and Michael Ryan and Jacob Warnken each hit a free throw for a 46-42 lead. Michael Ryan led the Oilers with 15 points and Brady Rugan added 11 points.
St. John’s Chase Fisher and Kinnamon hit 3-pointers in the final minute. Kinnamon scored 11 points.

VICTORIA — Macksville’s boys stunned state-ranked Class 1A Division I Victoria 62-40 in a Central Prairie League basketball game. The Mustangs (6-8, 1-3 CPL) extended a 19-14 lead to 17 points after three quarters. Macksville’s Brigdon Russell hit a 30-foter to end the first quarter. Russell won six pizzas for making a half-court shot at the Hilltop Classic last week at Barton Community College.
The Mustangs a 19-4 run to take a 40-23 third-quarter lead behind 10 straight points by Nathanial Miller.
Victoria’s girls cruised past Macksville 47-23 behind an early lead. Samantha Leiker scored 17 points.
