MARION – The Great Bend Legion Chiefs rallied to sweep Marion 13-6 and 5-4 in Thursday’s Legion baseball doubleheader.

CHIEFS 13, MARION 6 (G1) – The Chiefs trailed 5-0, but outscored Marion 13-1 in the final three innings to rally for an opening victory.

Marion led 5-0 behind starter Jaxton Tracy. Sam Zinn scored on a groundout. Luke Lanning delivered a pair of RBI singles. Eli Hett and Hunter Helmer scored on an error.

The Chiefs’ Calan Haberman singled home Eduardo Bujanda to ignite a seven-run fifth inning. Townshend Kurth doubled home Joey Soupiset and Haberman. Colin Hall singled home Alex Schremmer and Kurth. Eduardo Bujanda’s single scored Hall and Riley Smith.

Soupiset singled home Brice Kaieser to start a six-run seventh inning. Haberman singled home Eduardo Bujanda. Haberman scored on an error. Jesus Bujanda singled home Schremmer. Kurth scored on Hall’s sacrifice bunt. Smith singled home Jesus Bujanda for a 13-6 lead.

CHIEFS 5, MARION 4 (G2) – Nahum Olivas scored the tying run on Luke Lanning’s fifth-inning error and his bases-loaded walk forced home Colin Hall for the game-winning sixth-inning run. Reliever Brice Kaiser preserved the victory with a seventh-inning save.

Eddie Bujanda singled home Schremmer and Kurth for a 2-0 lead. Luke Lanning’s two-run first-inning single tied the score 2-2.

Kurth’s second-inning single scored Rogelio Sanchez for a 3-2 lead. Marion led 4-3 after Jaxton Tracy scored on a passed ball and Cooper Carpenter scored on Eli Hett’s bunt.
