SALINA — The Great Bend boys swimming team qualified for state in four events and won the Salina South meet with 410 points.
The Panthers qualified their 200 free relay and 200 medley relay for the Class 5A state meet. Dawson Clark (100 butterfly) and Cole Pierce (500 free) also posted state-qualifying times.
“As expected, the majority of our points were scored by seniors and juniors,” said Great Bend coach Steve Beaumont. ”We really came out strong winning the first three events and never looked back. I’m really pleased with the times our guys swam considering it’s early in the season and our conditioning is nowhere close to what it will be. Some of our returning swimmers swam their best times from last season, so that is really outstanding.”
Beaumont said the 50-freestyle was a highlight.
“ The 50 free was definitely a strong event with three swimmers in the top five — Isaac Panzer (2nd), Corey Harbaugh (3rd), and Zach Seymour (5th).”
Great Bend will compete at the Barton College Natatorium art 4 p.m. Tuesday.
